About Us
Creative Arts Network 4 Community Action:
CANCA, began with a number of individuals having a number of conversations about a number of ideas for a number of months. Talking for some time about everything we could do to help our community, we jumped forward and said "let's do it".
CANCA is run entirely on a volunteer basis and currently has no paid staff. As we continue to grow and establish relations outside Wake Forest, we value your opinion and welcome your involvement. Here is a summary of the types projects and events with which we are currently involved:
Ongoing Scheduled Events (ie: 2nd Fridays) - CANCA coordinates performances, activities and entertainment for all ages during scheduled monthly events. Businesses extend hours and streets remain open for neighbors to meet neighbors.
Education - CANCA brings together learning facilities and creative professionals to develop unique projects and tools that will make the education process fun again. We understand the challenges of teachers and students today and we will do what we can to help. We do what we do because it is fun. Isn't that what you want for your students and clients too?
Special Concerts and Activities - CANCA works with several organizations to bring top notch recording artists to several events. Fine artists complement musical entertainment by provide painting, woodcarving and other demonstrations as weather permits.
Promotions - Invite us to your special event. CANCA representatives will make themselves available during special events to get the word out about the importance of fostering the creative spirit. This is a unique opportunity to meet a number of professional artists and learn more about the CANCA initiative and how we may help your community!
Community Mural Projects - Witness the creation of a large mural as it is painted live in your community! Work with local artists to paint your own piece of art to take home and place above the sofa or give to a loved one.
Wake Forest Area Artists' Studio Tour (WFAAST) - This is the Wake Forest areas biggest event of the year that celebrates art and fine crafts and has prompted the organization of CANCA. Professional artists open their homes and working studios to give the public a first hand look at the creative process and what it takes to make a living as an artist. WFAAST was first organized in 1995 and will celebrate it's 15 year anniversary in 2010.
Gallery Shows - CANCA will organize special events and rotating artwork displays for your business or home depending on your needs and requirements, whether as a group or individually.
Any of these events and other projects may require special contracts and arrangements. Contact Us for more information.
